Hey there!! It’s Megan from Lovebird Heartworks and I just love LOVE!!! Don’t you?! I’m so excited to share this design and project with you, let’s get started!!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- You’re A Gem - Spinning Card SVG
- Craftey Glitter Flake Adhesive Vinyl (I used Rose Gold)
- Transfer Tape
- Weeding Tool
- Scissors
- Cricut Maker (or other die-cutting machine)
- LightGrip Cutting Mat
- Adhesive (glue or tape runner)
- String
- Cardstock
Step 1: Download the SVG. Upload into Design Space or Cutting Software.
Or you can go to the direct link in Cricut Design Space, here.
Step 2: After you’ve uploaded into Design Space - Add Scoring Line
It will make the folding and final stages of this card much easier if you add a score line to the horizontal middle of the larger rectangle. Here’s a quick video if you’d like to see how it’s done.
Step 3: Cut your Cardstock & Adhesive Vinyl.
When cutting your paper you’ll be prompted to insert your scoring wheel/tool depending on your machine. Be sure to change your settings between materials (from paper to adhesive vinyl).
Step 4: Weed Adhesive Vinyl
Cut apart your 4 images and weed your adhesive vinyl.
Step 5: Transfer Adhesive Vinyl
Using transfer tape peel the adhesive vinyl from the white backing and transfer it onto the cardstock hearts and card area wherever you’d like. The negative design of the hearts makes a fun bonus decal too!! I saved mine and put one on my Cricut.
Step 6: Apply Adhesive (Glue or Tape-Runner)
On the inside of the card right above and below the heart make a line of adhesive (as shown in picture).
Step 7: Add String
Cut your string to size and press onto the adhesive.
Step 8: Add Inner Lining
Put adhesive along the edges of the card (inside/frontside of the card, as shown in picture). Apply the other cardstock liner and press. Making sure that the string is tight.
Step 9: Apply Hearts to String
Place your card down onto your workspace and place one of the hearts (vinyl side down) across the backside of the string (as shown in picture). Apply your adhesive then place the other heart (vinyl side up) on top of the other heart, lining up the edges. Make sure the string is still tight and in place.
Step 10: Let Dry then Spin, Spin, Spin!!!
Tip for Gifting: if you decide to make an envelope for this card (or tie a string around it) be sure to twist the hearts about 10-20 times before you lay the card flat. This way when your “Gem” opens the card the heart will spin and shine!!!
How cool is that?! I loved making this design and project for you!! I included two different sentiments for you to mix and match, the heart diamond can also be used by itself on a card or a fun decal too!! SO many possibilities!!
We'd love to see what you create!! Feel free to tag me @lovebird_heartworks and Craftey, @GetCraftey, in your creations on Instagram if this has inspired you!!
