Hey, Craftey friends! Kayla here from the Kayla Makes blog to bring you one of my most requested tutorials + 7 exclusive free cut files for the Craftey community. These hot and cold coffee tumblers are a breeze to create and they make great gifts when paired with a gift card, coffee or chocolate! Keep reading below for the easy step-by-step instructions.
Supplies:
- Adhesive Vinyl (Oracal 651works best)
- Free Tumbler Decal Downloads
- Weeding Tool
- Transfer Tape
- Scraper Tool
- Cutting Machine (I use the Cricut Maker but any variation will work)
- Coffee Tumbler ($3 at Starbucks)
Step 1
Download the free designs and upload them into Design Space.
Step 2
Open the design you want to use and click the blue lock in the left-hand bottom corner to unlock the design's dimensions.
Set the width of the design to 3.779 inches and set the height to 3.527 inches. Don't mix the two up, you'll end up with the wrong sized decal. :)
In the cut settings window, select vinyl as the material and make sure the mirror setting is turned off.
Step 3
Place the adhesive vinyl on the cutting mat with the colored side facing up and use your cutting machine to cut the design.
Step 4
Use a weeding tool to remove the letters, the stars, and the small center circle. Leave the thin outer circle in place for now.
Step 5
Cut and apply a small piece of transfer tape to the decal and use a scraper tool to burnish well over the entire design.
Remove the paper backing, leaving the vinyl decal adhered to the transfer tape.
Step 6
Center the decal around the logo on the cup and use the scraper tool again to press the vinyl onto the cup.
Remove the transfer tape and then use the weeding tool to carefully remove the thin outside circle.
That's it. Six easy steps to a custom coffee cup!
