I love making custom shirts with HTV. They make great gifts and everyone loves a funny shirt! Use the mom bun SVG file below to make your own fun shirt for “getting stuff done” any day of the week. You can even make a few for your mom friends to put a smile on their faces as well.
Supplies needed to make this mom bun shirt:
- Electronic craft cutter (Cricut Maker used here)
- Color Essentials Chimp Heat Transfer Vinyl in white
- Black shirt
- Heat press or iron
- Mom bun SVG file (you can download it here)
- Weeding tools (optional)
Instructions:
Download the SVG file to your computer and then upload to the software for your cutting machine. You can see how to do that on the Cricut here. Be sure to mirror your design and place your HTV shiny side down on your mat. Then cut design from your material using your machine. You will then need to weed away all excess from around your design. Weeding tools make this a bit easier but are optional. One tip is to start in the corner where you don’t have any cut lines and start to lift up.
Then pull back the excess from around the outside.
You will start to see your design as you lift.
You will also need to remove the centers of any letters. Again, you can use your weeding tools if you would like.
Once your weeding is complete, it is time to add the design to your shirt. You can use a heat press or an iron for this step. I am using my Cricut EasyPress. Heat to 320 degrees F and set your timer for 15 seconds.
Place your design in the desired location on your shirt and press using medium pressure for the entire time. In my case, I needed to press multiple times as the EasyPress did not cover the entire design in one pass.
While still warm, peel back the carrier sheet to reveal the design that has been transferred to your shirt.
Everyone will love this cute and funny shirt design! If you want more free SVG files for making shirts, be sure to head here to see my other Cricut projects.
