Summer might be winding down but we're doing our best to keep that summer lovin' alive with today's project.
Arlena from Bossy Brushstrokes came through, yet again, with an amazing hand-lettered cut file for you guys this month and we're pairing it up with our brand new Color Chimp Flock HTV to create a cute summer shirt, perfect for those cooler nights to come.
- Blank shirt (we found a tropical print long-sleeve at Old Navy but you can use any shirt you'd like!)
- Cutting machine (we used a Cricut Maker for this project)
- Color Chimp Flock Heat Transfer Vinyl in White
- Weeding Tool
- Heat Press or Iron
- Summer Lovin' SVG file (download here)
We decided to do a little something different this week and put together a video tutorial to walk you through how to cut and weed your design.
Step 1: Design
Upload the SVG file to Design Space or Silhouette Studio and resize to fit your shirt. We sized our file to 7” wide.
Step 2: Cutting
Apply your vinyl to your mat (shiny side down), mirror your design, and press the GO button on your machine to begin cutting. *TIP: Don't forget to always MIRROR your design when using heat transfer vinyl*
Step 3: Weeding
Once your machine is done cutting, remove the heat transfer vinyl from your mat and cut away the area with your design. Use your weeding tool to weed away any remaining pieces.
Step 4: Press Your Design
Using your heat press or iron, preheat your shirt for a few seconds. Then place your design on your shirt where ever you'd prefer and press with medium pressure for 15 seconds at 320 degrees (Note: be sure to follow the pressing instructions for the brand and type of heat transfer vinyl you are using).
Step 5: Enjoy!
Carefully peel away your carrier sheet and that’s it – you’re done! Just look at that flocked goodness!
