Craftey Tells All: How Do I Use Transfer Tape?

Craftey Tells All: How to Use Our Craftey Transfer Tape

In this edition of Craftey Tells All we're answering a question we get a lot: "How do I get the vinyl to stick to my transfer tape?"

We've all been there... Your project cuts perfectly, you weed your entire design without losing a single dot, you apply your transfer tape and then (insert menacing music here) disaster strikes. You just cannot get your design to release from its backing and stick to the transfer tape. So what is a crafter to do?

Well, the bad news is that you're probably using your transfer tape incorrectly to begin with. But the good news? With just a simple shift in how you use transfer tape, the process is about to get a whole lot easier!

Do you have a question you'd like us to answer in our Craftey Tells All series? Great! Just send an email to social@craftey.com, DM us on Instagram, or leave your question in the comments below. We're so excited to hear from you!

Be sure to head over to the Craftey shop to find all of the materials used in this project, including our Craftey Transfer Tape, Craftey Tools Sets, and adhesive vinyls. If you're looking for more fun project ideas, tips, or free cut files, head over to our Community site and join in on the fun!

  • This is helpful! Question – what if you can’t get your transfer tape to release your design (your vinyl won’t stick to your project).
I had this happen this week with a laptop cover – I wasn’t sure if it was the cover’s surface or if my transfer tape was too strong. I had better success with contact paper, but it was still not an easy process. Thanks!
