There is no question about it that is a WEIRD time in the world. With all that's going on, sometimes the best thing you can do is focus on bringing a little extra joy to your life wherever you can squeeze it in.
And for us, that's crafting!
This month's hand-lettered design from Arlena over at Bossybrushstrokes.com is the perfect thing to serve as a sweet reminder and glimmering bright spot even when times are tough.
So without further ado, let's get this project started!
You’ll need:
- Blank Mug
- Cutting machine (we used a Cricut Maker for this project)
- Permanent Adhesive Vinyl – we choose Oracal 651 in black
- Transfer Tape
- Weeding Tool
- It's your time to bloom SVG file (download here)
Step 1: Design
Upload the SVG file to Design Space or Silhouette Studio and resize to fit your mug. We sized our design to 3.25” high.
Step 2: Cutting
Stick your vinyl to your mat (color side up) and press the GO button on your machine to begin cutting.
Step 3: Weeding
Once your machine is done cutting, remove the sheet of vinyl from your mat and cut away the area with your design. Use your weeding tool to weed away the negative areas.
Step 4: Transfer your Design
Cut a piece of transfer tape to fit over the weeded design and use your scraper to burnish over the design so that it adheres completely to the transfer tape.
Peel the transfer tape off of the vinyl backing and apply the design to your mug. Be sure to use your scraper tool again to burnish over the design to ensure it sticks strongly.
Step 5: Enjoy!
Carefully peel away your transfer tape and that’s it – you’re done!
